Aussi, le prototype du jeu a été poussé par Aaron Webber, ancien CM du compte Twitter officiel Sonic, qui a beaucoup aidé la marque à survivre après l'échec de Sonic Boom sur Wii U. Aussi, à l'animation de la scène d'intro de Sonic Mania, on retrouve Tyson Hesse, animateur brillant proche de Webber, qui plus tard s'occupera du redesign de Sonic dans le film, et s'occupera également des storyboards du film et de ses suites. Et le cliffhanger de Sonic Mania ne conduit pas à rien, il conduit à Sonic Forces. Donc Mania est un passage extrêmement important dans l'histoire de Sonic, et tout ça n'aurait jamais eu lieu si Tweaker n'avait pas sauté un chien. Et aussi Sonic Superstar c'est super bien.”
