Okay, so this is just endemic with modern western AAA games now, isn't it? I noticed the same trend of "protag yells your mission objective at you every minute" in Ratchet and Clank and even the otherwise-great Psychonauts 2 (which got REALLY annoying there because there's a lot of funny NPC dialogue to find by messing around in hubs or levels). This is NOT "making games more accessible", this is, like you said, treating players like they're stupid and have no attention span. Back in the day, fans of western AAAs used to bash Japanese games for their "hand-holdy tutorials", but I find this far worse. A JRPG might give you a ton of in-depth pop-ups explaining a game mechanic the first time you encounter it, but then THAT'S IT. Every future time you use/encounter that mechanic, the game trusts you to do whatever you want with it.
